Alan Campbell MP, officially opens 9.9 kWp photovoltaic (PV) array on roof of North East based building services company, John N Dunn Group

Alan Campbell MP, Labour MP for Tynemouth, today, Friday 17 September 2010, officially opened a 9.9 kWp PV installation at John N Dunn Group head office, Phoenix House, Kingfisher Way, Silverlink Business Park, Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, NE28 9NX.

Alan Campbell MP, Labour MP for Tynemouth, says:
"I was delighted to formally open this 9.9kWp PV array on the roof of John N Dunn Group's head office in my constituency today. It is well known that the North East is seeking to be a leader in terms of low carbon technology development and adoption. Everyone now knows about the Nissan electric vehicle - the Leaf. But less known is the increasing uptake by both businesses and private homes of low carbon technology like PV cells to generate electricity. People installing it get a double benefit. They save money on their electricity bills and immediately receive money for generating electricity from the utilities under the Feed in Tariff (FiTs) scheme. I would urge everyone to look into what technology would be best for their business and home to take advantage of this scheme as soon as possible.

I wish John N Dunn Group and its leading edge renewable subsidiary SOL2O in my constituency all the best for the future. It is great we have companies with a national reach like SOL2O in this area. The longer term future is bright for the North East and a big part of that future is clean renewable energy."

David Bilclough, Chairman, John N Dunn Group says:
"We were thrilled that Alan Campbell MP, our local MP, was able to formally open our new PV array on the roof of our head office today. By installing this array we are leading by example and showing the community and the wider world how this technology works and how it is a good investment which quickly pays for itself and then generates an income stream for owners and lowers carbon emissions at the same time. As a company we are technology neutral and there are some exciting technologies that we offer including PV and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) which are now beginning to attract serious interest and investment.

It's great the North East is well placed to be at the forefront of this new industrial revolution as a low carbon economic area. We are proud to be playing our part in this and leading the way on advising on the right technology, then installing and maintaining it to ensure customers get the performance the technology is capable of."
